History of the brand

The Sotheby’s International Realty® brand's rich history goes back to 1744, when the venerable Sotheby's Auction House was established.  The Auction House founded the brand in 1976 to service the real estate needs of the most prestigious clientele in the world.

Sotheby’s International Realty Affiliates LLC is a subsidiary of Realogy Holdings Corp. (NYSE: RLGY), a global provider of real estate services. In February 2004, Realogy entered into a long-term strategic alliance with Sotheby’s, the operator of the auction house.  The agreement provided for the licensing of the Sotheby’s International Realty name and the development of a full franchise system.

Today, the Sotheby's International Realty luxury real estate network continues to expand worldwide, with offices located in luxury markets within metropolitan areas and destination communities around the world.

Our firm was established as a Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate in October of 2011 and opened its second office on St. Croix in November of 2012, both offices are part of a luxury real estate network that includes more than 12,600 sales associates located in approximately 650 offices in 45 countries and territories worldwide.    

Our locally-based real estate firm, which has offices in St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix, offers exclusive Sotheby’s International Realty marketing, advertising and referral services that are designed to attract well-qualified buyers to the firm’s property listings. In addition, our firm and its clients benefit from an association with the Sotheby's Auction House, allowing the firm’s sales associates to benefit from real estate referral opportunities with auction house clientele.

As a Sotheby’s International Realty affiliate, our firm also has the unique ability to refer its real estate clientele to the auction house for appraisal services for jewelry, art, antique furniture and collectibles. Property listings from USVI Sotheby’s International Realty also are marketed on the sothebysrealty.com  global website.
